Monks Teaching Project in Kathmandu

The school is located inside a Buddhist monastery in the center of Kathmandu. The children come from the mountain villages. These are disadvantaged children who do not have access to education (perhaps because of this they are very applied!). The monastery offers them accommodation, food and schooling. And when they finish their studies, they can choose the life of the monk or their integration into society like any other child.

Volunteers are fundamentally required to teach Mathematics, Computer Science, Science, Creativity (crafts, music) or Physical Education and Sports.

You will work in the monastery as a teacher or teaching assistant. Volunteer project activities are designed in such a way that it is not necessary to have previous teaching experience, although professional teachers are appreciated. Teaching materials, daily planning of activities / lessons and daily support are provided to volunteers to achieve the greatest impact on their time in the project.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES 

• You will teach mathematics, science, creative subjects (music, crafts, …), or Physical Education and Sports.
• You will help the little monks with their homework. Extra classes.
• You will support the teachers with lesson planning and preparation of teaching materials.
